An ekphrastic poem

In a world of graphite, shadows cast,
A figure bound in moments past.
Hand held high, in silent plea,
A girl stands firm, yet yearning free.

Her eyes, they speak of strength within,
A quiet fight, where none can win.
In dotted gown, with patterns light,
She faces darkness, claims the night.

Barefoot she stands on shaded ground,
In chains, yet spirit unbound.
A simple chain, her arm does tie,
Yet hope persists, she will not die.

The artist's hand has caught her grace,
With every line, a hidden trace.
Of battles fought, of silent screams,
Of hope and fears, of broken dreams.

Oh, girl of strength, your tale is told,
In strokes of gray, in stories bold.
Though bound, your spirit ever soars,
Beyond these chains, through open doors.
